Sequencing Adobe InDesign CS3

in Virtualisation

indesign-softgridbox.pngAdobe InDesign should be the last of the Adobe CS3 applications that I’ll have to sequence and like Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat, I had the same issues with sequencing and running the application on the client. So I don’t have to repeat myself, check out those posts first and here are the basics for sequencing InDesign CS3.

Sequencing

InDesign has a couple of copies of FILEINFO.DLL that you’ll need to create manifest files for when sequencing, so place the manifest files here:

  • Y:\00000011\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS3\fileinfo.dll.manifest
  • Y:\00000011\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS3\fileinfo.dll.manifest

Running on the client

As with Illustrator and Photoshop you’ll also need to ensure that these files exist on the client:

  • C:\Windows\WinSxS\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.163_x-ww_681e29fb.manifest
  • C:\Windows\WinSxS\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.163_x-ww_681e29fb.cat
  • C:\Windows\WinSxS\Policies\x86_policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_x-ww_77c24773\8.0.50727.163.policy
  • C:\Windows\WinSxS\Policies\x86_policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_x-ww_77c24773\8.0.50727.163.cat

Although these files are picked up by the Sequencer and added to the VFS, the application won’t run without them being located on the client outside of the protected environment.

Did you ever get InDesign to work? I keep getting “The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically” after about 3 minutes after start up. I also get SXS Errors on FileInfo.dll…

Hi Jonathan, yes I did get InDesign working. Are you using the volume license version and have you followed the method I used in sequencing Photoshop: http://blog.stealthpuppy.com/virtualisation/sequencing-adobe-photoshop-cs3

Thanks Aaron. We are using the Volume License. A strange thing..the error does not come up if we open a InDesign file shortly after opening the program. We are still chasing it down.

We did use the method used for Photoshop… We got it to successfully sequence but in the event log there are SXS errros on Fileinfo.dll. It does not seem to have any effect on the app…unless it’s the cause of the licensing errors :-)

Hiya,
I’ve just started doing some testing with softgrid, and I have been attempting to sequence Adobe Indesign CS3. It seems to sequence fine, but when i try to run it from a workstation it keeps coming up with the error message ‘Failed to open plugin resources’. i was just wondering if any of you guys had seen this before? All of the other adobe products ’seem’ to sequence fine. Thank you in advance.
