My mother in-laws’ birthday was yesterday and I have her birthday recorded in her contact in Outlook. This then becomes an all day event listed in my calendar and of course synchronised  to my phone. Now, by default, Outlook adds a 15 minute reminder to every calendar item, so guess what happened at 11:45pm on Saturday night whilst I’m tucked cosily into bed? That’s right, the alarm on my phone goes off. After throwing the phone at the wall and thinking briefly about calling my mother in-law to sing her happy birthday at 12:01am, I thought surely great feature of the phone would be to recognise that I might be asleep around that time and not enable the reminder. Of course, it’s my own fault, now I’ve just got to through my calendar and disable all of those reminders.Â
